People in prison are still people, made in the image and likeness of God. No matter what someone has done, they deserve the opportunity to hear the Word of God and discover the Truth of the message of Christ.
Write letters to prisoners. Organize a letter-writing to prisoners in our local jails.
Assist at The Northwest Hub with weekly intake, bicycle and commuter accessory distribution every Tuesday (Salem).
Hold a parish bible drive and deliver the bibles to your local prison.
Visit a migrant camp
Tutor migrant children
Befriend those in correctional institutions in the name of Jesus Christ, thereby affirming their human dignity as persons made in God's image.

Visit Phoenix Rising Transitions' prison class (Gresham).
Arrange for members of Phoenix Rising Transitions to speak at your church. and engage participants through Intentional Conversations (Relational Meetings) with people, telling their stories, and sharing their experiences and perspectives.
Participate in USCCB advocacy for prison reform.
Support the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act of 2015
Support efforts that seek the abolition of the death penalty.
REFLECT AND FOLLOW-UP: The work of mercy isn't finished when the activity ends. Spend time in prayer, reflecting on where you saw and experienced the love and mercy of Christ. If you did an activity with a group, follow-up with others in that group and share insights or observations. This is a chance to grow in faith - and mercy! - together.
